Well folks we have been officially welcomed into our new home!

Tonight as I was reading bedtime stories to Blue-Eyed Boy there was a knock at the door. Now anyone who knows us knows that Blue-Eyed Boy goes to bed at 7pm so they don’t call or visit between 6:30 and 7:15. Needless to say I was a little intrigued at who was at our door.

It was a very nice man dressed in khakis and a sweater carrying a Bible.

Yep, you guessed it–a Jehovah’s Witness.

I guess we’re officially a part of the neighborhood now.

And now I feel like we really live here. *wink*

Okay a Few Random Things….. February 20, 2008

Filed under: Holton House Quest — Jess @ 9:48 pm

So, Verizon said our Internet would be off today. Obviously it’s not. It is quite strange, but I’m not complaining! The only thing we can’t do is check our Verizon Email. So, I have no idea when our Internet will turn off, so I am taking this opportunity to fill ya’ll in on a few exciting things!

I know some of you read Handsome Hunks blog and may have read this post.

I need to clarify a little…what they wanted was rent for the month of March, and an early termination fee which was equivalent to one months rent. The letter said both of these were due before we returned our keys. Needless to say we were a little upset. Especially when I poured through our lease reading every. single. boring. legal-jargon-filled. line and there was nothing about any of that. All our lease says is we need to give at least 30 days written notice, which we had.

There was a note on the top of the letter from our landlord saying she wanted to talk to us about our move out date, so I was wondering what that was about.

So, today I went to talk to her to see what we could work out, etc. Well, the whole thing was just a big misunderstanding!! When I told her our move out date she thought I said we would move out when our lease expires. So, she was confused when she read our letter and it said March 1st. Anyways…the long and the short of it is….NO. FEES! YAY! We can go ahead and move out no problem. Needless to say there is much rejoicing in this little Culver household tonight! I think I might even make pancakes for dinner to celebrate! *smile*

Well, I think there was something else I was going to say, but I’m so excited about the above mentioned yay, that I can’t remember.

Well folks, I probably won’t post again until I am in my new residence!

Oh and the great dishwasher fast of 2008 is going remarkable well. I will fill you all in after we move! Thank you for your advice!

Bye For a Little While! February 19, 2008

Hello everyone!

We are moving this weekend as most of you know therefore we had to cancel our Internet. So as of tomorrow I will be gone for a little bit.

But I will be back once we get settled into our new place and get the Internet hooked up!

Until then take care!

Edited to add: Our new Internet will be hooked up on Monday! See you then!

How Could I Forget? February 15, 2008

Filed under: Holton House Quest,Pregnancy and Birth — Jess @ 4:47 pm

Today we went to our NEW HOUSE (It still gives me a thrill to say it!) and took a couple boxes of books over (Sorry I pack them too heavy honey!), and I wanted to clean the kitchen and bathroom, etc.

So, while I was cleaning Handsome Hunk and Blue-Eyed Boy went on a quest for a snow shovel and a dish drying rack (I would like to introduce you to our new dishwasher–ME!). They were unsuccessful. Apparently Meijer stopped carrying snow shovels months ago (Did they miss the blizzard? or did I just imagine it? Hello this is MICHIGAN). Needless to say Handsome Hunk was quite surprised. So, Blue-Eyed Boy and I will later be heading out on a quest for a snow shovel—oh the joys of home “renter-ship”!

Anyways…in my zeal to clean the kitchen I seemed to have forgotten something very important.

And climbing on top of counters (shh don’t tell the Hunk I did that!) and kneeling on the floor would be regretted later.

Well it’s later folks and let me tell you……..

I need a nap

and maybe some Tylenol

and maybe some ice cream *wink*

But at least the kitchen is spotless.

Dum, dum, dum duuuum! February 13, 2008

In exactly 35 minutes we will be the proud leasers of a house!

*great rejoicing*

Thank you for all your prayers and support! It means more to us than you could ever imagine!

The 50th post and some REALLY GREAT NEWS! February 11, 2008

Filed under: Holton House Quest — Jess @ 8:01 pm

First I would like to happily announce that this is MY. 50th. POST. I can’t believe I’ve had so much to say! =)

I’m sure you all remember this post.–from a couple of days ago. I think it’s safe to say–I was depressed. (pregnancy hormones notwithstanding)

BUT in an amazing turn of events (all orchestrated by the Almighty—I mean who else could do such amazing and wonderful things??)

Jim called today.

The people who were going to put the entire years rent down could not get the money and lost their deposit. (I feel so sad for them–really I do–because if they loved this house as much as we do–it really is a sad day for them indeed)

So it is ours if we want it.

We sign the lease on Wednesday.

Did you read that??? Let me say it again just because it sounds so great.

At 2:30 pm to be exact.

At 2:30pm on Wednesday February 13th we will be the proud renters of A HOUSE!

I cannot begin to explain the wonder of this pronouncement! A HOUSE! No more apartment living. No more noisy neighbors. No more incessant pounding on our living room floor because….well lets face it folks we have a two year old and they are NOT quiet. (Apparently not everyone appreciates the pitter-patter of little feet on their ceiling–I personally don’t see the problem.) No more feeling a guilty sense of pleasure that we are bugging our neighbors….especially when they slam their door every ten minutes and knock the pictures off the wall. A YARD!!! A YARD!! A YARD!!! Oh my sweet little boy can go outside and explore God’s green earth!! In the summer we can hang our clothes out to dry, like we used too! Nothing smells better than sun-dried clothes! And my GREATEST wish is that they will let us plant a garden! Oh I can’t wait!! I can’t wait!! I can’t wait!!

It was funny because Handsome Hunk and I were praying today about our housing and I added a little “could you hurry up please there’s a pregnant woman down here” at the end….half serious half being stupid. And I guess God was listening! (not that I doubted or anything-of course)

So, now you must excuse me as I go start really packing. I’ve actually been packing one box a day for about a month now. You know all those things that you don’t use on a regular basis.

But now, now I get to REALLY PACK!
